Anti-Plastic People CIC

Anti-Plastic People CIC is a not-for-profit community interest company limited by guarantee. As such, there are no shareholders and all funds remain within the company to help us, and the worldwide community, achieve our vision of a world free from single-use plastic.
Anti-Plastic People CIC was founded in July 2017 by designer, publisher and environmentalist, Sarah Hardy. This community website launched on the 29 November 2019.
Sarah is also a co-founder of In The Drink UK CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company that works to reduce single-use plastic in our waterways caused by riverside bars, boats and events; and founder of FMS Magazine, an online, conscious consumer magazine, based in London with a worldwide audience and international team of contributors; featuring ethical and sustainable fashion, music, style, film and travel.
Anti-Plastic People uses a 360° strategy to tackle single-use plastic pollution. This includes researching, developing and selling alternatives to single-use plastics; campaigns and lobbying, advising organisations on how to reduce their environmental footprint, researching waste management systems and developing initiatives.
We will be adding further pages to this website to keep you informed on past, present and future campaigns/projects. In the meantime, please visit our About Us page to learn more about what we do. Our online store is due to launch in Spring 2020.
Anti-Plastic People welcomes donations to help support our work. Please get in touch with sarah@antiplasticpeople.com if you would like to hear more about our campaign plans and funding opportunities. We will also be adding a Donate page to our website in due course.
We’re always happy to hear from people who are interested in working with Anti-Plastic People. We will be adding an Opportunities page to the website, which will also include open job roles. In the meantime, please get in touch with sarah@antiplasticpeople.com.

Membership

Community Membership is FREE, and always will be.

Together, we can all make a difference.
A Community Leader is dedicated to creating and leading a group via the Anti-Plastic People website. This may be to bring people together in their local community, and actively create change at a local level, or may be dedicated to creating change in a specific environment, nationally or worldwide. Please see our guidance notes on creating a group for more information.
Community Leaders can also list events and submit news stories for consideration, while enjoying all the same benefits as Community Members.
Community Leader membership is £5.00 per month, but you get your first three months for the price of one, when you join during our launch period.
Business Members can list their business or organisation in our Global Directory, create groups and forums, list events and submit news stories for consideration.
Business membership is £15.00 per month, but you get your first three months for the price of one, when you join during our launch period.
Community Membership will always be free, but membership fees for Community Leader and Business Members help us to cover our costs for managing, maintaining and developing our community website. The cost of running our website increases as more people join and use the platform, but we will always keep membership costs to the minimum needed to do so.
No, sorry about that. Anti-Plastic People is also a not-for-profit company.
Our Community Membership is free, and fees for Community Leader and Business Members are kept as low as possible for us to manage, develop and maintain our community website. The cost of running the website increases as more people join and use the platform, and we can’t function without covering our costs.

Directory

There are three sections to our Global Directory – Services, Places and Events.
Business Members can list in all three sections, while Community Leaders can list only Events. Your business is eligible for listing if it has eliminated single-use plastic from its products and services, and/or provides a service that helps others to eliminate single-use plastic from their business and/or services.
Suppliers may only list their business if they do not also sell single-use plastic products.
To list your business, you must first become a Business Member.
Once you have signed up as Business Member, you will be able to view the ‘Add Listing’ pages via the menu in the Directory sidebar. Simply fill out the required information, add photos and submit.
Please view our step-by-step guide to Listing Your Business via the Help menu if you need further guidance.
We will email you to let you know when your listing has been published.
Sometimes we add listings to populate the Global Directory and benefit our Community Members. When this happens, we will email you to let you know that we have temporarily listed your business or organisation.
To claim your listing, you must first sign up as a Business Member. Once you have claimed your listing (via the Claim Listing button, in the sidebar adjacent to your Directory listing), you may update your listing whenever you wish, and also create a group or list events.
We may at times remove listings that have not been claimed so that we can give priority to our Business Members.
Please tell us if you would like us to remove your listing.
To list an Event, you must first become a Community Leader member (or a Business Member, if you’re also planning on listing your plastic-free business, environmental service or anti-single-use plastic organisation).
Once you have become a Community Leader or Business Member, you will be able to view the ‘Add Event’ page via the ‘Add Listing’ menu in the Directory sidebar. Simply fill out the required information, add photos and submit.
We will email you to let you know when your listing has been published.
